What size cat carrier do i need?

When it comes to transporting cats from one place to another, a cat carrier is often a necessity. The type of cat carrier you will need depends on the size and number of cats that need to be transported, so it is important that you know what size cat carrier is ideal for you.

If you have a single large cat, a medium-sized carrier should suffice. A large plastic carrier with an elasticated cord around the top or handle for extra security is ideal for most cats. It should have at least one side door and be wide enough so that your cat can turn around comfortably inside the carrier. For multiple cats, two smaller carriers may be needed instead of one larger model as they will not want to share space while in transport.

If you are travelling with a small kitten or two, then look for a smaller model designed specifically for kittens or young cats. Plastic models are lightweight and suitable if travelling by car, while soft-sided fabric carriers may offer more ventilation if the journey takes longer than expected. Remember that small kittens usually require special vaccinations before they can travel, so make sure you check the restrictions with your vet first before organising any trip!

Finally, if transporting an elderly or sickly cat, then look for an airline-approved pet crate or cat taxi that meets all international regulations regarding air travel with animal passengers. These larger-sized crates offer plenty of room and can be easily stored in a car boot when not in use.
